Will Smith has done it again by putting out another surefire summer hit that will guarantee to fill movie theater seats at $10.00 a ticket. The question is does the movie live up to all the weeks of hype that has been generated? To honestly answer that question, I will have to say ummmm welll somewhat. I think the hype was necessary, but the many different trailers for this film did not really leave the moviegoer with much to anticipate; parts just appeared to be a rehashing of the trailer.
The film was quite comical which was a welcome changed from Smith's most recent films which carried a more s
erious under-tone. This film showed the versatility that Will Smith can bring to a film while drawing the audience in deeper, never allowing their attention to venture from the screen. The supporting actors Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman played their roles well backing up the performance of Will Smith. These characters helped develop the plot and the few surprising twist that the movie has to offer. Bateman's character does get a bit redundant in the film and really kind of loses his place in the movie.
All in all it was a decent movie; but it wasn't this cast best or worst films. Wild Wild West and Aeon Flux lol enough said lol...My scale rating system is 5 meals and this film gets a soild 3 meals, middle of the road. It was enjoyable and will be bought on DVD because I am a fan, but it won't be a first day drop purchase. It's one of those when I get around to it I will pick it up. Sorry man...but looking forward to seeing your son's new film later this year.
